Online Resources Available from the Missouri State Library 

Book Connections

Book Connections and TeachingBooks are available statewide including all Missouri public libraries, K-12 schools and colleges and universities.
Book Connections is for public libraries. TeachingBooks is for schools and academic institutions.
These resources use geo-location; therefore, login or authentication is not required for patron access.
These databases contain resources to engage readers from over 260,000 books including Meet-the-Author movies, audio name pronunciations, audio book readings, discussion guides, vocabulary lists, and more. These are perfect tools to use with book clubs, class units, reading groups, and reader’s advisory.

VetNow

VetNow is available to state aid certified public libraries. It is a service that offers tailored support to veterans and their families. The service includes live support with a veteran navigator; online expert assistance navigating the VA and benefits veterans are eligible for from local, state, and federal programs; help with transitioning to civilian employment and translating military skills for civilian jobs; and college preparation and support through a full suite of academic tools.

The subscriptions are supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.

EBSCO Databases

MasterFILE Premier is a database of full-text magazine articles, reference books, and documents about various topics including business, health, education, general science, multicultural issues, and more. Click on Choose Databases above the search box to search other EBSCO databases on subjects including art, environment, and science.

 

EBSCO eBooks

EBSCO eBooks is a collection of fiction and non-fiction titles for both adults and young adults covering a wide range of subjects including self-help, health & fitness, recreation & leisure, and finance. 

 

Financial Literacy

The Financial Literacy database makes economics and personal finance easy to understand and highly engaging. Articles explore macro-, micro-, and global economics as well as personal and household finance.

 

HeritageQuest

HeritageQuest is a comprehensive database of American genealogical and historical sources, dating back to the 1700s, including primary sources, local and family histories, and finding aids.

 

Read It!

Read It! Provides resources for middle & high school students and adults who have a basic foundation in English grammar and reading to build background knowledge, conduct research, and improve study skills for a variety of subjects.

 

Teen Health & Wellness

Teen Health & Wellness provides middle and high school students with up-to-date, nonjudgmental, self-help support. Topics covered include diseases, drugs, alcohol, nutrition, mental health, suicide, bullying and LGBTQ+ information.
